my mom is buying me a car. I have my permit and I get my liscense in May but I want the car now. My mom says that she doesnt want to have to pay insurance on the car and just have it sit there, but I really want it so I can sit in it and show it off to my friends, who all have cars. if noone is driving the car, does there need to be insurance on it? she said that it does because what if someone were to hit it while it was parked on the street. also, does it have to have a liscense plate and can i get all that stuff without having to get insurance? i wanna get it now and then convince her to get insurance and let me drive it. it will be easier to convice her if i already have the car. the car i want is a manual but she wants me to practice in her automatic because thats the car im using for the test. im tired of driving her car and i want to drive my own, especially because its a stick.

My car was parked on a decline, stalled, and ran into the back of my friends wagon. My repair quote is about $940, hers is about $615, at a total of about $1555. The excess I have to pay towards insurance repairs is $1045 (standard excess, age excess for being under 25, and some flexi-excess p.o.s). At the moment I only have enough money to fix her car, although that means waiting another few months to fix mine, and I'm impatient. Hers needs to be fixed asap for roadworthy and registration. I also have the option of finding a new bumper for hers at a much cheaper price, although that is proving difficult. Also, my insurance company only likes their choice of repairer. My panel shop has done jobs for the company before, but I'm not certain if they will let me use them. I won't have anyone else repair my car, as the money was going to go to repainting a new bonnet instead of repairing, which insurance won't cover. On another note, I'm not sure how long going through insurance will take. So my question is, do I go through insurance, even though I might not get to use my panel shop and it will cost me almost the same? Or do I leave it, and do what I can to fix my friends car cheaper? Then just suck it up and wait to have the money for mine, therefore also saving a rise on my insurance premium and a drop in my rating.

Totaled my car, What will insurance do?

Yesterday I totaled my 2000 ZX3 and almost died, luckily my roof didn't completely cave in as i slid in the ditch after i flipped over, SO my engine and transmission isn't damaged. I wanna save some movie and just buy a car like mine with a blown engine and then switch engines and get the keep the rest of the insurance payout. Will my insurance go up if my vehicle would be out of town?

Ok so i'm 18 and will be going to college 186 miles from my home in pittsburgh. I'm currently listed as a primary driver on my parents insurance. Will my insurance rates go up just because the vehicle would no longer be located at home? I don't believe it should because if i'm listed as a primary driver what difference does it make where the vehicle is located? Does anybody know if it would go up?
